It seems to me than none of the contestants are being taught to take over the stage, connect with the audience (sing directly to the audience) and the song choices are terrible.
I do believe that it shows the absence of Paula Abdul as a choreographer who obviously was involved in teaching the contestants how to dance and take over the stage. You don't see any of them moving around and showing emotions or connections with the audience or with the songs.
I would love to see them have the contestants choose a few songs from the 60's and 70's when songs could be understood, had a story, along with a tempo and tune, rather than the repititous words in these new songs with no tempo at all. B O R I N G.
Songs like Sinatra's, Bobby Darren (Mac The Knife), Ella Fitzgerald, and so many more greats in that era.
I love music, but can't stand the yelling and belting out the same lines over and over.
