Computers you can use: Savannah Center (7-10) -- 60 mins; Sun-Sat); Mark Twain Library on Historic Side behind Paradise Rec. Center (9-5:00 M-F 9-12 Saturdays); closed Sundays) -- 30 mins if someone is waiting, unlimited otherwise; Library across from the high school -- 45 mins -- hours vary depending on day of week. The ID card you are issued (whether a "guest" or a "rental/resident" card will work for Savannah and the Mark Twain); just sign up for the public library.
You will need a PIN number to use a laptop at the rec centers. It is the same number you need to make golfing reservations, so if they give you a number for that, you'll be fine. You just log in with the ID number and then the PIN.
There are a few restaurants that have free WiFi -- Crispers on 466, Denny's on 441 and a few others.
If you want something relatively cheap, I'd go for a notebook. I have one and love it. They're lightweight and small enough to fit into a large purse but still have a reasonably sized screen. Makes them highly portable.
