Default Television through my computer

We are about to move TV. For the last couple of years we've had a computer hooked up to our plasma television so we can watch Hulu and Netflix. We've also been using a device that hooks to our incoming cable that allows us to record cable tv onto our hard drive. This requires a fairly high speed internet service. Does anyone else in TV do this? If so, what type of ISP do you use? We tried DSL where we live now and it was next to useless up here. Cable internet has been excellent. Basic cable along with internet up here is only 56 bucks. We only use basic, because we also get what is called QAM channels in hi-def over the cable that are "in the clear" and don't require a set top box. I hope I can do the same down there. Please excuse my long-winded post.
