Yes, I have used the Verizon Mi fi device successfully in several places. You can plug it in to an AC source if you don't want to run down the battery. If run on battery, you will get about 3.5-4 hours of use. You can also insert it in the usb port of your computer and it performs just as an air card, however, when plugged into your usb port, it negates the router function and will not allow others to hook up to the device.
One issue- If the verizon coverage goes into a "roam" mode, the connection speed will decrease significantly.
Still, not sure if I would want as my permanent internet provider.
