To me, it is like closing the barn door after the horses get out. I think that everyone who enters the U.S. should do so in a proper way, like our ancestors did.
Some countries require that people have means to be gainfully employed and a job waiting.
The laws are in place, but the enforcement is not.
Our Diocesan Catholic paper here in Cincinnati supports waiving these laws. I just don't know what can be done effectively and mercifully for people already living here. It was wrong to let this happen. It was wrong of them to enter the country illegally. The folks being arrested this week in Ohio are those who are scoflaws, who have been deported before for breaking the laws, and not just the immigration laws, but I will wonder if it will be effective, last time they had to let them go.
