I didn't understand the bit about the neighbors either. On the subject of size and maintenance, we have a Camellia, almost 2000 sq. ft. but the lot is small and the lawn cost per month is a little over fifty dollars, for cutting, weeding and trimming. So if you yard is small it really doesn't cost a lot to maintain it.
