The nuts and bolts info is good. But, the DMV is particular on paperwork. In case you want to register a car that you don't have with you, you need to make sure that you have the title, a form verifying the VIN and mileage...signed by a police officer and all owners, an application for title...signed by all owners, proof of insurance valid in Florida (I had to switch companies), and copies of a drivers' license for all owners. The forms can be found on the DMV website. But, first, you should get your Florida Drivers License (at least one owner). For that you should have your Social Security Card (or something else documenting your SSN), your passport or birth certificate, and drivers license from the state you are leaving.

The DMV website (make sure you get the official one) has pretty good information on all of this. The process is reasonably easy if you bring all the right paperwork. No tests to take.

Oh yes, also bring about $50 for the drivers license and about $400 for the vehicle registration and license fees. They don't take Visa, but they do take checks.
