the hoagie has to have the right roll. amoroso's from philadelphia is the best roll; my brother-in-law takes bags of them back to las vegas when he visits the phila area.....that is how good they are.
am sure that you can make your won from decent lunchmeat from publix...but....ya gotta have the right roll!

Is anyone here familiar with the cold-cut sandwich that I used to get as a kid when we lived in Philadelphia known as a Hoagie? I've had many people say "Oh yeah, a cheese-steak". NO!!! Not a cheese-steak! I'm talking about a cold-cut sandwich with several types of meat and cheese and VERY thinly sliced onions and God knows what else and finished with either oil and vinegar or italian dressing. I know some of you old folks know of what I speak. I lived in Philadelphia over 50 years ago, but I can still remember those sandwiches and nothing I have had since can hold a candle. We have gone to Philly a couple of times, but have not been able to find anywhere that made anything like them. I think mostly they were made in mom and pop deli's, but like I said, it's been over 50 years. Mainly, I want to know if there is anywhere in TV that has anything remotely close to this type of concoction. Subway doesn't count.
