You should be very concerned about the rattlesnake - pygmy, copperhead, coral snake and the cottonmouth moccasin. These do live in Florida. Here is a link to the venomous snakes in Florida.

Many of the snakes around here are non-poisonous - corn snake, black racer, garter snake, etc.
Personally I try to not get close enough to them to try and see if they are poisonous or not.
Do read up on the various snakes in Florida so you know what you are seeing.
Looking for a $1 golf ball in tall grass or near the water can cost a lot more than that $1. Need I also mention alligators and those leatherback snapping turtles?
