Yoda, after watching Glenn Beck yesterday, I thought I'd check on Media Matters for America's website today and see what they thought about Beck's show.

For anyone not familiar with the organization, let me start first by showing how Media Matters For America describes itself. (Just like newspapers have standard sections such as classified, editorial, obits, et al; Media Matters for America has standard sections on their website too. Some of their sections are "Only on Fox," "Right Wing Book Watch" and a "Limbaugh Wire.") I say this to show that they declare themselves the watchdog for Americans on "misinformation" in the US media. Many, many liberals on this site have used Media Matters as a source of information to show what they consider the conservative's distortion of the truth.

From their site About Us:
"Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.

"Launched in May 2004, Media Matters for America put in place, for the first time, the means to systematically monitor a cross section of print, broadcast, cable, radio, and Internet media outlets for conservative misinformation — news or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda — every day, in real time.

"Using the website mediamatters.org as the principal vehicle for disseminating research and information, Media Matters posts rapid-response items as well as longer research and analytic reports documenting conservative misinformation throughout the media. Additionally, Media Matters works daily to notify activists, journalists, pundits, and the general public about instances of misinformation, providing them with the resources to rebut false claims and to take direct action against offending media institutions."

I say all this to lead into saying what Media Matters for America found as misinformation about Beck's show yesterday. "Beck distorts Soros to accuse him of conspiring to 'replace the capitalist system,'" and "Beck admits he hasn't 'found anything illegal' about his latest 'Crime, Inc.' conspiracy theory." The second item was actually a statement Beck made on previous shows about Crime Inc. Before this new information was uncovered.

You can read it for yourself, but basically their problem with yesterday's show was" "Soros said the international currency system -- not 'the capitalist system' -- is "broken and needs to be reconstituted."

So the rest of the show's information is correct? If I missed something else on the website about Beck's show yesterday, please correct me.
