I'll give the same advice about cat-sitting as I usually do. If Dee (that's redwitch) can't do it, then ask among your brand new neighbors. I'm pretty sure you'll find someone who'll come and take good care of your feline.
The first time I went away after settling in here, I hired a "pro" to come. When I came back, at least two of my neighbors "yelled" at me that they'd have taken care of The Cat. Guess who now sits on The New Cat and takes in the paper and the mail and stuff!
Good luck in your drive here. Please, please do not even think about letting the cat out of a carrier while you're driving. Dangerous, dangerous.
