Sorry, I got off track.
About a month ago, my husband went to a specialist in Pinehurst, NC, for a torn meniscus in his knee. When he signed in at the front desk, they had to make a copy of his driver's license, insurance card and get this, TAKE HIS PHOTO for identification purposes. Of course, when I asked, at this high-end orthopedic surgeon specialist in Pinehurst, the receptionist said it was to keep someone without insurance trying to sneak in using my husband's insurance card. Yeah, okay.
This office pulled up electronic copies of every prescription he was taking through our Cigna Pharmacy and had copies of his medical records already on file. This was his first visit to this physician!!
Cigna's Wellness Program has been driving us crazy for about a year now. I wouldn't mind, but the Wellness Program is a private company contracted through Cigna to give us healthy lifestyle advise.
When I asked who gave them permission to look at any of our records, the rep acted stunned and couldn't answer. I told her she was breaking HIPPA laws and I'd see about a lawsuit if they didn't quit calling and sending information about our personal health. Stuff only a doctor is suppose to know!!
