Here is the email update I received today.
Dear Subscribers:
As many of you have discovered today, the multi-modal project has started with a bang and the contractors have started their work. However, in their eagerness to begin the project, certain paths were closed today and detours were established that were not yet announced to the residents. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. In our efforts to keep everyone fully informed on all closures, we will be communicating with the local media outlets on a regular basis and every effort will be made to ensure that residents are notified in advance of path closures. However, please keep in mind that these closures and detours are fluid and dynamic. They will change often and it is even possible that they may change suddenly if the contractor determines it is a matter of safety. We will make every effort to get the latest information to you; however, during this project all residents must be prepared to make last minute or sudden changes to their familiar transportation route. Detour maps for both Buena Vista Boulevard District 4 (Marion County) and El Camino Real are posted at
http://www.districtgov.org/projects/multi-modal.aspx .
Here is a synopsis of the current closings:
El Camino Real
The current path closure is at the Savannah Center. Cart traffic will need to follow the detour signage around this area. The cart traffic patterns affected will be the traffic coming out of the “hole in the wall”, the Buena Vista Boulevard tunnel, and the El Camino Real tunnel. The detour route is around the south and east side of the parking lot of the Savannah Center. As I have mentioned previously, it is imperative that all traffic use the marked detour around the back of the Savannah Center. Many residents expressed frustration today when they tried to take a shortcut through the Savannah parking lot and discovered that they could not access the tunnels when doing so. However, the tunnels are open and accessible when using the prescribed detour route.
Buena Vista Boulevard, District #4 (Marion County)
The closure will be at the northern most segment of the Buena Vista Boulevard trail. This will affect the segment from the round-a-bout at CR42 south to Calumet Avenue. Traffic will be detoured to the Springdale Fitness Trail onto Legacy Lane, then through tunnel at Nancy Lopez to reach Buena Vista Boulevard.
Saddlebrook
Both the golf course and the path will be closed starting on Monday, July 26th. The detour route will be the same route utilized during root pruning which is onto the golf course and through the Saddlebrook parking lot.
Again, please be patient during the construction and obey any detour signage that you may encounter. If you have any questions, please give me a call.
Sincerely,
Eva M. Rey
