I'm on bk's side with privacy, with one exception. I don't mind doctors knowing my medical history if I am going to them for treatment.
What you must do, each of you, is carefully read any waivers you sign with a doctor's office. I saw one waiver recently, and declined to sign it, that gave information to a drug company in case we needed help with paying for drugs. Not bad so far.
The real offense, though, was apparent when I actually read all that waiver fine print. It gave the drug company the right to give any third party my medical information, birth to death, with any other party they desired. I presume I would have had to supply financial information to get that help, and that information could be shared also.
That waiver was apparently advanced by the drug company Astra Zeneca under the guise of helping with financial aid. Had that been signed, each of you could have called Astra Zeneca and legally received all my private information. You would have been bored silly, but you could have done it.
Thoroughly read what you sign.
