Ours is located in an expanded cage outside of our bedroom, not under cover of the lanai. Have you talked with anyone about it, like the people at T&D? They install lots of spas and pools around here and do a fine job.
Something to consider....spas take up space, above or in the ground and it will give you less outdoor space. What will be more important, the spa, which can feel really good after a day of outdoor activity, or the space for entertaining.
When a house around here has an outdoor spa or pool, the doors to the lanai have the handles up high. Not sure if that's for code regulations. Will you have little ones spending lots of time with you? Our house came with alarms on the doors and windows that face the lanai. The door opens and the alarm sounds....annoying, but a good thing when there are little ones around. They quickly learn how to open sliding glass doors and are outside in the blink of an eye.
