L & L, I agree. I have had my purse returned to me, and I have returned found items of value. By far, most of the people I know who have told me about having lost items in a public place have had the items returned. I've heard of many instances of people making great efforts to return lost items to owners who were total strangers. Bet most of us could say the same.
I think
at least half the population in all modern countries is basically honest and honorable. Think about it. Life would be way more chaotic were it not so. How could businesses survive? How could we safely own and retain valuables otherwise?
Of course, I could be wrong.
but doubt it.
