I might be wrong, but I think there is a misunderstanding of terms. PDAnet enables you to tether your Android phone to a computer. In other words, connect your phone to a computer via a cable and use the phone's 3G data connection to give the computer Internet access. This is not the same as a WiFi hotspot. By the way, PDAnet does in fact work very well.
