If you are only interested in learning a few basics so that you can simply play a couple of rounds of golf with them, you would be making a big mistake. It will be a frustrating experience for all of you. This isn’t shuffleboard where you can pretty much pick up the basics in an hour or so and play an ok game.

In this case I would plan to have your friends play as a twosome and they’ll be paired with another couple at the 1st tee. Is it really necessary that you and your friends do absolutely everything together that week. A couple of breaks while they play some golf and you run some errands would probably be welcomed.

On the other hand, if you and Tim are really interested in finding out if you would like to learn how to play golf, the Villages Golf Academy has a great opportunity for you. It’s called the ‘New To Golf’ program. It’s a five day program that meets mon-fri at 8:30-10:00 and costs $225/student. It will teach you all the fundamentals of the game including the all important course etiquette. So while your friends are playing golf, you’ll be in golf school and you’ll have plenty to talk about when you meet for lunch. They also have several intermediate three day courses that you friends should consider on the days they are not playing.

This is the way I learned the game, and it was the best move I could have made. They provide everything, all you need is sneakers and a golf glove. Give them a call at 352-259-8121
