This thread has given me some additional gray hair and I'm bald and white-haired already. We're scheduled to close on December 3 and have yet to receive our mortgage approval. I emailed our loan officer at Citizens' Wholesale Mortgage and asked for an update and was told they are awaiting an appraisal. I recognize an appraisal takes some time but this is a newly built home and I hope the appraisal is a no-brainer.
According to the loan officer, after the appraisal is received, final mortgage will be approved and the approval will be forwarded to the title company. At that point, he says the title company will call us to discuss closing date and time and final closing costs. He anticipates that call won't take place until several days before closing so they can give us the exact amount needed for closing and the cashier's check.
My concern is with the timing. We're scheduled to fly in the day before and stay a week before we have to return to Connecticut.
I'd appreciate feedback from anyone who's recently gone through the closing process on a newly built home with a mortgage as to whether I should begin breaking out in a cold sweat.
