Riley Grove Surprise
True story confirmed. All my neighbors in Bridgeport Sumter whose homes abut the Riley Grove nine, lined their yards with flags for the wounded vets who played in the Hope for Warriors Tournament on Saturday. Residents of Bridgeport Miona and Winifred did the same.
Early in the morning, before the start of the tournament, one of my neighbors was putting out her flags near the second hole when a golf cart pulled up. The golfer stepped out of the cart, walked up to the woman, thanked her for remembering the wounded vets, gave her a hug and kissed her hand. He proceeded to the tee box and according to neighbors, hit a monster drive. The golfer was President George Bush.
President Bush also took time from his schedule to greet and chat with the wounded vets while "hanging out" at Palmer Legends before the tournament. Unscheduled, impromptu, no press, no photo ops, no publicity.
What a great, interesting place to live.
Have a great day in the Villages.
