embarq also has a wifi modem upgrade from their standard dsl modem for 5 dollars a month.
i'm not technically or physically very handy but managed to set it all up on my own.
i use amazon's whispernet for all my kindle book purchasaes but the embarq wifi became a must for many of my ipad apps.
