Yoda, I have read the Koran -- three times. The Bible 8 times. The Hadith, however, I have not read and it is on my list. Heck, I've even read the Satanic Bible (what a bunch a drivel that was). I'm the curious sort and read everything I can.
The Koran does not preach murder of innocents, whether infidel or not. In fact, it is the exact opposite. What people are being taught is a bastardized version. It is easy to twist words into whatever you want and the Imans do exactly that. The people can't read the word themselves and, of course, cannot believe that a man of God would speak anything but the truth. Hopefully, one day, they will be taught of the beauty and love in the Koran. As yet, they are only taught the ugliness and hatred (which can be found in pretty much any book -- go read some older versions of the Bible [the Crusades were easily justified by the writings of that time].
As to this being political, it probably is, but at least it's interesting and, as yet, has not resorted to name calling.
