The bill should be an up or down vote on tax freeze for all. The dems already lost on their bill. If the freeze for all fails, settle at 5 million.
DO NOT ADD ANYTHING THAT INCREASES THE DEFICIT. Nothing..
Everything else should be in a separate bill and should be paid for with real cuts in other programs.

JimJoe, You are absolutely correct. This is pure unadulterated pork and the worst by far is the ethanol subsidy. In this country and throughout Europe farmers started growing crops for ethanol production rather than for human and animal consumption. In this country we noticed it as a spike in price for milk, beef, etc.as cornfields were used for ethanol rather than food production. Unfortunately, this increase in one of the three basic staples in the world, corn, rice and grain led to equally rapids rises in the other two staples - rice and grain. Millions of people around this world would suffer from either malnutrition or starvation. We tend to forget how little the people of countries such as Haiti and Bangladesh have. If the price of rice doubles, they starve.
As most people on this board know, I am not one who supports causes. However, in this case I must make an exception. We have no right to artificially increase subsidies to products of dubious value when the result will be mass starvation as it has been before.
As for the other subsidies, we have spent 75 billion dollars on wind and solar power. They provide electricity at multiple times the cost of nuclear or coal fired plants. In the case of wind power, there is strong evidence that shows you must have a coal fired or nuclear plant on-line so when the wind stops blowing, we still can keep the light bulbs on
.
I am writing to our Senators and my Congressman urging them to reject this bloated, pork filled bill. As JJ has said they should vote on a tax freeze without any additions for this or that. It is time to find out whether our representatives actually want to cut the deficit or simply continue with business as usual.
