pklein, I don't know that you'll be able to get approval for a fire pit.....but I might be wrong. Currently, Sumter County has a burn ban in place: http://sumtercountyfl.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=139 See "Commissioners Approve County Burn Ban".

As dry as things get in FL sometimes, I don't know that I'd personally want to run the potential risk of starting a grass fire with escaping sparks or embers from a fire pit.
