An occasional thank you card with a $20 bill works wonders. I know it's their job to deliver the mail but a simple expression of appreciation makes them remember who you are. I also always talk with the mail carrier or mail station worker before I leave and give them a note as to how to handle the mail, hold, forward or whatever.

We have a lovely guy who takes care of our mail and when we get oversized packages he delivers them to our door. We appreciate his service and know that he doesn't get big bucks for his work. A smile and some cash go a long way in showing appreciation.
