Again...thanks for your help. I want to buy a new notebook next week, and I need to put my (future) mind at ease, knowing that if/when my computer breaks, I won't have to box it up and send it away for repair.

I have 4 Dell computers, 3 desktop and laptop. Have only had problems with one desk top. I called Dell at approximately 2 pm and they ran their online access and diagonistics, after describing the problem. No problem, the mother board was failing. They said they would send someone to fix it. The next morning, I received a call from Dell, the new mother board was shipped express overnight. About 11 am I received another call wanting to come and install the new board. Came within an hour and was up and running in an hour after they got here.
Was great service, and response time.
1 computer is 6 years old now, runs Windows XP with service pac 3. The laptop runs XP and about 3 years old. The other 2 are Vista and 2 years old.
