You have good advice above. My two cents worth is that the Garmin 1450 has a version where you don't have to pay to update maps. Its a few bucks more but well worth it here where the streets are like rabbits. I have had a Magellan, a TomTom and recently went to Garmin which is far superior in my opinion.
