Default Common Sense

In case someone may not be aware, I wanted to post a common sense thought to those who are putting their home up for sale.

My new real estate agent stressed the following thoughts:
1. Make sure you don't leave any paperwork out in the open that contains your social security number to prevent identity theft.
2. Make sure your medications are kept in a safe place and not easily grabbed.
3. Make sure your valuables are not in a place where if someone opens a drawer, they can easily take them.

He told me a story of how a couple came to see a house and the wife went upstairs to look at the bedrooms and the husband stayed on the lower level for the purpose of seeing if their medicine chest had drugs they could sell, possibly try to steal thei identity via social security number and to take their jewerly to pawn or wear themselves. Since their was only one real estate agent and two visitors that split up for their nefarious reasons, the real estate couldn't watch them both.

He said their was an episode where the seller realized their jewerly was taken after someone visited their home and reported this to the police.

When one wants to sell their home and move to TV, this is something that I didn't fully realize how dishonest some people could be.

Hope this helps someone.
