I just think we need to be honest about how much government we really need and how much we can reasonably afford.
Underfund certain parts of government will cost you dearly in the long run. I'm sure some folks in Japan are wishing that they invested a wee bit more in the agency that provides independent nuclear plant inspections.
On the other hand, if we create a too cumbersome tax system - really wealthy folks/corporations will hire armies of CPAs and lawyers to find the one sentence in the tax code where they can avoid paying much of anything...and if they can't find that sentence they will just pick up and move to another country. I hear Ireland is beautiful this time of year.
This is a time to avoiding shouting (though let your representatives know your opinion), take a sip of California wine, and accept that "You Can't Always Get What You Want" - but, if you try some time, you might find, you'll get what you need!
Thanks to Mick Jagger!
All hail to Comrades Marx (Groucho) and Lennon (John).
Cheers!

Harbor, I was pretty sure you were to the left of me - but didn't want to get into a brawl with my more conservative brethren. And I think a ticket with you and Red would be fair - but not necessarily balanced....
