Default Putting it on "vacation"

means we suspended service for the summer, while we are up north. Centurylink allows you to do this for land line and internet service. I was told there will be a minimal charge for the landline ($5-6 mo), and no charge for internet, and no charge to restart in the fall.

They told me that Florida is the only state where they offer this - because too many people (to save money) would just stop service and switch to a different provider when they return.

The first rep we spoke to gave us misinformation - then switched me to the "recidivism" desk. Don't get me started about customer service with either Centurylink or Directv. Just persist.

Comcast will allow something similar, don't know what they currently offer.

We now have Directv, and you can either take your boxes back and forth, or suspend it for the summer as well. I think they allow this once in any 6 mo period (at least currently) - for instance, many seasonal residents come back for a couple of months in the fall, but go north from mid-November to early January.
