Wait staff are tipped for service and being friendly. I start at 20% and go up or down. In this case he lost out on both and in my book should only have been given the .06 he decided to keep from the total change due. Tips are not automatic as some servers believe. Been on both sides.
Meal should have been comped and waiter should have been more proactive for the customer. jmho
