Z, thanks for the info! I wonder what, exactly, constitutes zero (0) on the grid?
I ask because in Utah ground zero was always the LDS temple in the big cities, and the addresses were numbered by their distance from the temple... for example 455 East 300 South. This meant you were 3 blocks south and 4 1/2 blocks east of the temple. Some of the streets/avenues/boulevards also had names, but the post office didn't want mail addressed to 45 East Broadway -- they wanted mail addressed to 45 East 300 South. The same was probably true for the police and fire departments.
Does anyone know if they just picked a random starting place for zero on the Marion County grid, or is it a special landmark?
