When I was growing up, I remember my late mom referring to tomato sauce as "gravy". She would give me too much pasta and I would say, "that's too much, please give me less". She replied, just eat what you want knowing I would eat it all. Oh, those were the days.
When eating in restaurants, I always use the term "tomato sauce".
I do find it amusing when in certain restaurants and hear the English version of menu items like Cavatelli and Manicotti.
It's pronounced very different in Italian.
I'm still waiting for the english version of Gnocchi.
I enjoyed eating at Red Sauce and look forward to going there again.
