Default Accessible homes in TV?

We have been looking at both pre owned and new construction in TV. There don't seem to be too many, and the ones we like need a lot of remodelling to make them accessible.

I guess we expected more "universal design" or at least 36 inch wide doors in an area specially made for retired folks.

We found one home in Buttonwood that is advertised for "special needs". The ONLY thing we could see for "special needs" was wider doorways. The front door still has a step and there's a step down to the lanai.

Anyone have any opinions on this subject?

We are still planning to move to TV, but not quite yet.

Thanks, Connie and Chuck
