Welcome to TOTV! We still have a way to go and although we may have the same concerns as you, we are not there yet. Something to think about.
I would think unless you found a pre-owned home that suits your needs, you probably have to make any alterations on your own. New homes are not built with handicap people in mind as far as I know. (Although you can get a walk in shower in designer homes)
Wishing you well and hopefully all will work out.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of responces. I am looking forward to read them as well.
