Cal, Welcome to TOTV. There are no foolish questions. I'm a wannabee, and I've asked a lot of questions. If you read and post on TOTV you will learn a lot. I'm sure a TV veteran will be able to answer your questions. I'm one that doesn't like surprises of the financial kind (unless it works in my favor) .
