We all missed having our mailbox right at the front door when they decided everyone on the outskirts of our town would have to put their mailbox on their front lawn next to the driveway (on a post down by the road).
In the winter time, it means going up and down a steep incline / decline on ice and snow. Guess Villagers can just ride their golf carts down to the mailboxes.
It doesn't take long to adjust to having to go get the mail, either by walking, taking your cart of driving your car. Our mailbox was right in front of our house for 30 years and I loved it. Now we take a drive in the cart or just swing by with the car to get the mail and we actually don't pick it up every day....we sometimes get busy and forget... Mailboxes aren't that far away and besides, lots of people take walks and the walk to the mail station is usually a nice one. No steep slopes to worry about and honestly, with all the UPS and FedEx trucks that are busy driving around the community, and landscaper trucks as well as tradesmens' trucks around, it wouldn't be easy for the postal truck to navigate streets within each village.

Oh, and in the winter, close to Christmas, the UPS drivers just drive a golf cart with a small open trailer around our neighborhood making deliveries....kind of cool... The Villages Florida
