We suspect that this guy was looking for an unoccupied residence to break into. Since we do all of our own pest control, except for termites, and we have a rock landscape with shrubs that we can care for mostly by ourselves, we rarely have to unlock the gate for anyone. Our neighbor knows to ask us to unlock the gate when he wants to access that side of his villa, and HE locks HIS gate, too! So, unless you are expecting someone who needs access to your rear or side yard I see no reason why you can't lock your gate.

Hmmm this brings up an issue I was concerned about with security of CYV's. Is this a common problem? I was thinking that it could be since intruders would know that they would be unseen while breaking in through sliding glass doors....Iove CYV's but I don't like worry about intruders even though I don't do anything aunatural except for shower in the privacy of my bathroom.
