It never ceases to amaze me that the American answer to gun violence is to get more guns - if you have one, I'll get two. Is that really the answer, or is there something wrong with society as a whole that this is what people resort to? America has been world-famous (and not in a good way) for our gun violence and Europe has been relatively unscathed until now. There are quite a few European countries that don't arm their police and it has worked fine up to this point. Having lived overseas for a number of years, I asked Europeans what they thought of Americans and the answer I got repeatedly was pretty sad - we were all fat and owned lots of guns.
