You and they keep talking about the BIG HUGE cuts we need to make....I agree that we do, BUT in the meantime we simply ignore anything BUT the large cuts. To use your expression, we keep "kicking the can down the road" on so many opportunites.

The current, and now resolved issue on the airport is a great example of assuming because the cut is not HUGE, we should not waste time on it.

Given the household budget you present...I would cut anywhere and anytime...and stop carping about what I can or cannot do on the big items...while totally "kicking down the road" everything else.
