Sinkhole insurance is important in The Villages. You do not have to have your house swallowed up in a giant sinkhole to have a lot of damage. Cracks in the walls are often caused by sinkholes. $1000 deductible is awful high for that, though.

Hurricane insurance deductible is common at 2% of the value of the house. I would suggest getting a reasonable hurricane deductible of $500.

I got my homeowner's through GEICO and have it bundled with my car insurance. Pretty reasonable rates.
