Make sure your GPS is very up to date and you should be able to find most places in the area in your car. The thing is, The Villages is growing more rapidly than the GPS people can keep up. I was here 2 years before Garmin knew my street existed, and so I had to put the closest location to my house I could find to have a "home destination" entered to find my way home after exploring my Florida surroundings. For me that was the Fire Station on Bonita Blvd in Bonita.

Richie is spot on. The only thing I would add (and it may sound silly) is to get a stick on compass. It's helpful to know what direction you're heading if you know where you came from.
