Sumter County has a big change coming for us as of 1 Jan 12. Unless posted lower or higher than 25mph, all streets within the Villages will automatically be lowered to 20mph. That would mean that automobiles and trucks will be unable to pass a golf cart using that street and traveling at 19 or 20 mph. It certainly would not be a problem for an officer to cite an auto driver who is passing three or four carts on a residential street. Obviously this would have no affect on streets posted at 10, 15, 30 or 35mph. Wonderful idea and I can hardly wait for the change to take place. This information recently appeared in the Daily Sun.
