My thoughts on modern "Sex Education" is that back then I was talking to my children (so long ago, it seems) about the how to value themselves and their bodies and the future ramifications of their actions, and to question whether the person they're out with has their best interests at heart when the subject of sex comes up.

In school, meanwhile, their teachers, who are their "guides" in this world, also, are basically telling them "we know you're going to have sex no matter what your parents or anyone says because it feels so good, and so here's some condoms and here's how you use them; and the law says you don't have to tell your parents what you do or what we tell you about sex.

So now my children have the mixed message that everyone is apparently doing something that their parents say should wait until they're older, and in fact, it is something their teachers expect them to be doing. How many times have our children been told to wait before they could maybe have something they wanted.

It's hard to combat all that in the face of rising emotions and hormones and the implicit permission of their school teachers.

That's the way I saw it as a parent of pre-teens, then teenagers, so long ago.
