Ummm.. Quite a few of those taxes existed in 1911. And why were property taxes double-counted as "Property Taxes" and "Real Estate Taxes"?
Heck I started checking some of those taxes and a LOT of them existed 100+ years ago. In addition, newer taxes were generally for things that didn't exist 100 years ago (like the kind of road system we have today that comes from gas, road use and registration taxes).
By the same token, the article rails against the 545 in D.C. yet lists a lot of *LOCAL* taxes that Washington has nothing to do with. There's no national sales or property tax, for instance.
