Red Skeleton was my favorite as he used to truly make me laugh.
His ad libbing when props didn't work in addition to his character skits were priceless. I remember one time he had Jayne Mansfield on his show and she came out and gave him a big hug. The sound effect was two loud pops.
He said, "I think I broke them both". She looked down at her chest and he stepped back and pulled out two cigars from his breast pocket.
I bought a series of his tapes in BJ's several years ago that I view every so often. Yes, it was the golden age of comedy.
