Having worked in the field of oncology for decades, I am so grateful for the advances in treatment through the years. I can actually remember the days when the patient was the last to know the cancer diagnosis because the family thought it was an evil thing to have....and maybe it was "contagious"! Treatment in those days was minimal and surgery was brutal. That was back in the 50's when I was a nurse's aide working after school and weekends. I digress.
There have been many advances in many diseases....and, yes, we have a long way to go.
Show that pink ribbon! I for one am so very grateful for my many breast cancer survivor friends.
BRING ON THE PINK!
