Not quite as dramatic as the story above, but true - -
When I was 12, I had mononucleosis for 8 weeks. My parents made arrangements for the parish priest to bring over communion one afternoon because I was missing church.

There was a protocol for such house visits. They told my Mom to light a candle, and meet the priest at the door without saying anything until he had a chance to give me communion.

So around the appointed time, the doorbell rang, my Mom lit the candle, opened the door and stood there holding the candle with her head bowed.

After a few seconds she heard rapid footsteps walking away, and looked up to see the Fuller brush man making a speedy retreat. She could hardly contain herself when the real priest arrived a couple of minutes later!
