We brought all our stuff with us from CA...sort of a combination of styles, but stuff I liked. Now after 5 years, many of the pieces have been replaced with newer pieces, but still in darker woods. My kitchen set in CA consisted of a large black gathering table (one of those tall things) and a buffet. I've put that in my dining room here and added two more small black cabinets. The table and buffet were brand new. New sofa and loveseat, new chair, new kitchen table, new furniture for the guest room and a new sleep sofa for the office have been purchased here in TV. Kept the office furniture we brought, it was new, but have gotten rid of one large desk and replaced it with a smaller one.
All of our stuff is in darker colors except for our office, off white furniture.
One might want to think long and hard about what they bring here. There are so many different styles of decorating, some more beachy, some more traditional. I think if we had to do it over again, I'd just buy new....since we've replaced almost everything....
