I've been here 2 years. Last winter was colder than usual. It costs more here to heat the house in winter than to cool it in summer. So I use my whole collection of light cashmere sweaters and fleece jackets, and a warm coat, hat, gloves and scarves when I visit family in NY. What I don't use are the bulky heavy sweaters that I brought along. A lined raincoat is a good thing to have. When you go out in the evening you are always going to need a jacket or light coat.
